  • Can’t find ProRes Video Codec in CS6

Posted by Simon Perkins on February 16, 2015 at 5:07 pm

Hi, I know I am messing something up here, and I have searched a number of threads and can’t find the answer. I am working in CS6 and am trying to export a sequence as ProRes 422. I’ve successfully done this before, but for whatever reason when I choose QuickTime as the format, there are no “ProRes” options under video codec (see below). Only “Apple Intermediate Codec.” Please help me realize what I amdoing wrong! Thanks in advance.

    Hey Simon,

With CS6, I believe you need one of Apple’s products (FinalCut,motion, etc.) installed in order to use Prores in Premiere exports.

It’s not longer the case with Premiere CC.

Thanks Vince. So if I just install Final Cut on my machine will the export suddenly become available in Premiere Pro when I export? Or are there any other steps needed in the process?

That should do the trick. If you have issues, you can also try installing this guy: https://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5411
