  “Set to Frame-size” or “Scale to Frame-size”

  I’m editing a 1080p timeline and adding some pics that are big and b-roll from shutterstock that’s 720p. I’ve been using the set to frame-size usually. Is this ok!? It makes the pics and b-roll shots fill the screen but does this affect the quality? I’m up-ressing correct? And with the pics, I’m down-ressing, correct?

  Yes, Premiere Pro has a very good scaler and does a good job of preserving detail when upscaling.

  Yes, theoretically. But you’re not changing the size so much that viewers should notice. Also, with “Set” to frame size, you are not rasterizing the larger images, so you are preserving the original resolution, so really the answer to your question is no – no change in quality

  Anything bigger than 1080 is downrezzing
  Anything smaller than 1080 is uprezzing.
