  Apllying masks to stabilized footage

  Hey there,

  I’d like to mask some footage that’s stabilized, but the masks drift with the movement of the orignal layer. How can I transfer the motion data from the tracker to a mask?
  I’ve tried making another layer as a trackmatte, which in theory works but I can’t get it to follow the tracker if I pickwip it to the attach point of the tracker. What method am I missing here?

  Arrghh! If anyone can help me with this one you’ll save my lazy arse as it’s got to be easier to mask the footage after I’ve taken out the jitters from it (old handheld skate footage from the 70s).

  Any thoughts?

  There are some scripts on AEnhancers that will allow what you wanna do (or more precisely links to them). You may also wann look into alternativ such as Silhouette Roto. Unfortunately AE itself does not provide the tools you need directly.

  After you have your layer stabilized, precomp it, and mask that.
