  • can proxies be relinked automatically to DNG sequences?

Posted by David Baud on August 27, 2014 at 11:49 pm

Premiere Pro CC 2014 (v8.0.1) is able to relink a proxy file (Quicktime files) to a DNG image sequence, but so far I have to do it one proxy at a time! I’ve got 300 image sequences!

Is there a way to have Premiere automatically relink proxies to DNG image sequences all at once?

    Thanks!

You’ll need to select the correct attributes in the link media window. If the proxies were made correctly they should share most/all metadata that the DNG sequence has. The file extension doesn’t match so you should tick that off at least.

Thanks Tero. Right now (in the Link media window pane) I have tried with File name checked and all the others unchecked:
    . File extension
    . Media Start
    . Tape Name
    . Clip ID

With that configuration Premiere is not able to relink automatically.
I have Align Timecode, Relink others automatically checked as well.

To give you an idea here is an example of a proxy file:
    140328-OdysseyCLIP0000034.mov

Here is the corresponding original Cinema DNG images sequence

    folder name:
    140328-OdysseyCLIP0000034

inside of this folder first DNG file starts like this:
    140328-OdysseyCLIP0000034_0000000.dng
    140328-OdysseyCLIP0000034_0000001.dng
    140328-OdysseyCLIP0000034_0000002.dng

    etc…

I was not involved in generating the proxies so I am hoping the metadata are the same. I am just wondering if Premiere is capable to recognize automatically images sequence.

Do you know what Media start means? isn’t it similar to timecode information?

    Thanks.

If the clips have unique timecode and/or tape name you should try toggling those.
