  Premiere CC 2014 crashes every 30 minutes or so on new Mac Pro

  I’m getting all kinds of strange things happening with PPro CC 2014 on a brand new Mac Pro. Beach balls that require a force quit, auto-saves that lock up, auto saves not working, audio not playing and then suddenly playing again, etc. So far I’ve:

  Cleared the media cache
  Reset Premiere preferences
  Created a brand new project and imported my old project into it
  Zapped the PRAM
  Re-booted more times than I can count

  I’m starting to wonder if I have a bad RAM module. Any other ideas on things I can look into would be much appreciated.

  Could be a lot of things… this happened to me on an earlier release of Premiere when I had a piece of corrupt media. The second I started to play the corrupt media I would beach ball and crash.

  Is this just on one project? All projects?
  What happens when you open the same project on another machine?

  Have you tried reinstalling Premiere?

  Had similar issues with one of our new Mac Pro’s. How is the heat of the tube? Does it heat up pretty hot and can you actually hear the fans blowing hot air out of the top? Our would crash with multi cam ProRes projects, and 4K projects. The tube got so hot it was like the fans were not even working correctly. Ended up taking back to Apple store and they are in the process of replacing logic board and some other internals. Even though the diagnostic software showed nothing wrong when they ran it. It was not CC2014, it was a bad hardware issue. Maybe make a genius appointment and have it tested.

  This was our first project on the system and he managed to finish it up last night. We are going to see how the next project goes in case it was just a corrupt clip or project that was causing the issue. We did notice later in the day that the crashes were often preceded by this error: “A low-level exception occurred in: ImporterMPEG (Importer)”. So perhaps that might at least point in a particular direction.

  Thanks for your suggestions. I think the Mac Pro is OK at this point. The fans are running normally and everything other than Premiere seems happy.

  Same issues here. I’ve actually abandoned CC 2014 until Adobe can fix these problems. Premiere is completely unstable on my MacPro, and I can’t risk missing deadlines. I don’t have any issues with FCPX, Motion or Compressor, and even After Effects 2014 works just fine.

  Are you running 10.9.4 or 10.9.2 which most of the new Mac Pros shipped with. If running older, try updating the OS as it has helped with known issues in Premiere.
