  Looking for feedback on a PC for video editing with Premiere

  Hi! New member form Barcelona, Spain. I’ve checked Creative Cow lots of times when I needed help and it’s always been useful. Now I’m investing in a new PC, and thought I’d ask your opinion before I pulled the trigger.

  I’m gonna be editing music videos and newspieces, mostly amateur level. I’m gonna use Windows 7 (as long as there’s no real benefit of upgrading to 8) and I’d like an affordable desktop PC that can still run smooth and well integrated with the Adobe Suite. I won’t be using too much AfterEffects, and certainly no 3D modelling or such. Mostly HD video (up to dozens of tracks) and color grading. I won’t be overclocking the PCU either.

  It’s a preconfiguration sold by a component store here in Barcelona. It will be 1139€, which is around 1500$ (that’s my top budget).

  GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 OC 2GB GDDR5
  Hard drives: (2x) Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 2TB, (1x) Samsung 840 Evo SSD Series 120GB SATA3
  RAM: 16GB ( G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 1866 PC3-14900 16GB 2x8GB CL9
  CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 412S CPU
  PSU: Corsair CX750M 750W 80 Plus Bronce Modular

  Do you think it’s an adequate setup? No enough? Overkill? I’m a little lost on hardware issues.

  For the cpu, I would go for the new Devil’s Canyon Core i7-4790K . The price difference is very little if I remember right. The cpu runs at 4 ghz with a turbo of 4.4.

  On the gpu, I would go with a gtx760 for not much more. I have a gtx 660 and the reduced memory bandwidth does impact performace.
