Hey everyone, maybe someone can help me with this. First off, I have AE 5.5 and am not an expert-which is why I’m so glad the COW exists!
I’m trying to create the illusion of an image of a girl being projected in mid-air in front of a family while they eat dinner.

I would like the shot to rotate around her to show that she’s 3D(even though the layer is only 2D I suppose?):
I did a test where the camera rotates around the girl in one layer and I keyed her out. Because of the rotation, she appears to be quite 3D, floating in mid-air. The background behind her is of the family’s living room with the camera matching the move. It actually came together nicely, the camera rotation matched in both shots, without putting much thought into the physics of it all. What I’m looking for are tips on how to really get the illusion of the projected girl being 3D and the camera rotating around her and matching with the footage of the family watching her. Any suggestions would be helpful! Thanks.

Thanks. Having it come closer to the camera will definitely enhance the effect.

the AE track is only in 2 dimensions … if you want to give an Holographic look to the scene, the hologram should seem to be in a 3D plane, different than the background. For this effect, you need to have a background which has a changing point of view, to give that perspective feeling. Then, you track it, apply it to the hologram. You turn the 3D on for this hologram. And now, you manually adapt the rotation (in 3D) to match the background. When it’s done, you can change the Z axis of the hologram, to make it come near the camera, so the movement of the hologram seems to be in a 3D plane, moving faster than the background, as if it came out from the background to the camera.

    Hope this will help …..
