How to export 1080p PAL Footage to DVD PAL without vertical black sidebars?
Hi.
I’m shooting my footage with my Canon 550D (t2i) @ 1080p 25frames PAL. I’m importing the footage to premiere pro CS6 to a matching sequence. When I try to export to MPEG2 DVD PAL WIDESCREEN I get black vertical side bars. why ?? Can anyone help me please ??(I’ve tried the same thing in FinalCut Pro 7 and the exportation was good. But I don’t like FinalCut)

Hi Alex,
That’s because Adobe is using an exact aspect ratio, what you are seeing is the production frame.
You can choose stretch to fit (top left in your export window)

Thanks. There’s no other way to do it without stretch the footage ?

How wide are the bars? We should only be talking about a few pixels, there’s also an option to just zoom in instead.

Yes. Just a few pixels but I can notice the stretch. I will use the “Scale to Fill” option. Thanks for your help. I’ve lost so many hours searching about this on google and it’s so simple. ” Premiere for Dumbs” I need it…

There is a difference between square pixels and non-square pixels. Either you scale to fill and lose a little or you’ll have to deal with the bars.
