  More than 2gb in AE

  Hi there…

  I’ve just upgraded my system to a althlon 64 X2 with 4 gb of ram. How do I
  get after effects to recognise and use more than the default 2gb?. I read the
  help file but does’nt seem to be helpful at all. I’m running
  on windows xp sp2. I’m thinking if it’s worth upgrading to xp64 to fully utilize
  the pc but I heard that there are driver issues. Any ideas?

  If you want AE to use more than 2GB of RAM search the archives (or google) for “3GB Switch.” It’s a line you add to you boot.ini file to get certain applications to recognize 3GB of RAM under Windows XP Pro. I would recoomend researching it some more before you use it. If you don’t want to do this, you can use Windows XP 64 bit editiion; I’ve heard AE works well and recognizes 4GB using this OS but I have never used it. For more info on RAM related stuff search the archives for posts by “Steve Forde” (President of Gridiron software, creators of Nucleo).
