Windows 7, firewire problem
PP only reads our JVC BR hd50 as: “capture device offline”. When I try to select the “legacy’ driver the system crashes. I see a couple of other forums where folks have had this exact problem. We have run through all of the typical trouble shoots for this. Does anyone know of a specific resolution to this (increasingly frustrating) challenge?

1. Make sure your system has all current Windows 7 updates installed, try legacy driver again but with no firewire devices connected (restart your system after the driver switch, reconnect your deck and retry) then try this 3rd party firewire driver https://www.unibrain.com/products/ubcoretm-1394b-drivers/ (it says no AV support but it’s recommended over Window’s Default driver, so give it a try anyways)

Can anyone tell me if there is a major compatibility problem between Windows 7 professional and the JVC BR HD50? I did install the Legacy driver and as soon as I turned the JVC back on the system crashed. What am I missing????
