Use a proper Slate or VERY Loud Clap to make MultiCam easier
Just a friendly reminder to use a real on set Slate or a VERY loud Clap at the start of each scene when using multiple cameras and make sure you’re rolling audio on every camera, even camera mic.
We still bring an old school slate on set and are able to run a MultiCam on 3 cameras, over an hour of footage each in less than 5 minutes. We slap that sucker hard enough to make the talent jump, but it gives a solid sync point for MultiCam. Using something like an iPad slate is hit or miss for us, it’s generally not loud enough and then we end up having to manually sync some clips.
Don’t have a slate? Get two small piece of wood and slap them together. Anything to get a nice loud slap will work better than just about anything generated electronically unless you’re feeding an electronic slate directly into your sound tracks to get that perfect audio tone.

We used a snare drum snap for a multi-cam high school band event – could be heard all over the football field.
