Metadata Display Presets – Column Order
When creating a metadata display preset for use in my footage bins, I choose the columns I want, then order the columns the way I want to see the text presented and save the preset. When I apply the preset to a new bin, I get the columns I chose but the order has been rearranged.
Does anyone know of a way to save a bin view that includes a specific column order that’s applicable to other bins?
I’m currently using the latest version of CC on OSX 10.8.5.
All suggestions greatly appreciated.

the project panels coulmn order is stored in the workspaces. So sort your columns and then save a new workspace.

That solved the problem. I must say I think that Adobe’s approach could have been a little more intuitive. At least opening the metadata display panel is assignable to the keyboard as a shortcut which helps in minimizing the number of mouse clicks.

After experimenting with this for a while, a couple of more things have come to light. It seems that newly created bins default to whatever column order is currently displayed in the Project Panel. Change the column order there and the column order in new bins created after that change reflect that change. Go back to the presets panel and you are unable to force the preset column order presumably saved to that preset onto the newly created bin by simply adding the preset. What reasoning is behind this design choice?
Unless I’m not fully understanding something (which could be the case) this seems more than a little weak. Why would anyone go to the trouble of creating a preset if the purpose wasn’t to configure a layout exactly the way they want to see it. Why would someone want to see the same information in the Project Panel containing primarily folders, that they would in a bin containing media clips?
