  • Title Editor not displaying correctly in Program Window (Premiere 6)

Posted by Dan Heflin on March 8, 2014 at 12:15 am

I have a problem where the text in the Titler is not displaying correctly in the Program Window. For example, my lower third text looks perfect in the Titler, but appears to be stretched out and beyond the title safe in the Program Window. If I nudge the text in either direction, it seems to fix it, but this then compromises me being able to put the text exactly where I want it. Please see attached photo. Thanks.

My first guess would be that you’re creating a title document that is the wrong size for the sequence…

Are you perhaps editing a video format that is 1440×1080?

…and the title you create is 1920×1080?

    Or some similar combination?

Notice that the document is really only stretching horizontally, but vertically it seems to be where it’s supposed to be…)

Thanks for the response Tim. The sequence is in 1440×1080 and the title is in 1440×1080 as well so that is not it. I do the shortcut key to create my titles, Command-T, but it remains in the same format as the sequence I am editing in. Maybe there is some other reason.

When you click on the title in the bin, does it have the same pixel aspect as your footage?

The frame grab you posted definitely looks like the result is that the title is stretched…and the pixel aspect being wider would do what I’m seeing there.
