Slip edit subclips…
I cannot seem to get subclips to perform slip edits. (CS6).

Right click on the subclip in the Project bin. Select Edit Subclip. Uncheck the Restrict Trims To Subclip Boundaries.

if you drop the entire subclip into a sequence, the sequence is treating it like a whole clip and respecting the artificial limits you placed on it when you created the sub clip.
you can tell this when you load the subclip in the source viewer.
however, with the clip selected if you choose “edit subclip” from the clip menu….
you can turn off the “restrict trims to subclip boundaries”
this should allow you to do what you need.

Hmm….here’s what I see.

That might be CS6 behavior. It’s not like that in CC. Sorry for the confusion. In CC when you make a subclip the naming dialogue box even has the Restrict option right under the name field.

Bummer.
Another frustration.
I have clip that has 5 different projects in it; it’s a dolly shot in a show room. The agreement between the retailer and the wholesaler means he needs to have BRAND1 separated from BRAND2 and so on. So I made metadata fields and set in and outs for the particular brands. HOwever! the metadata field populates every clip at once, although I have tried two ways, just clips, and subclips.
Do I need to do this in Prelude? (I guess that’s what I’ll try now.)

That would be my suggestion. What’s kinda cool is that you can ingest that clip and mark it with 5 different subclips and then just save the project. When you import that one clip into PPro you’ll get it and the 5 subclips come along for the ride.

The chain icon was engaged, now they are no longer linked! So all is good, happy editor.
