Plugins for mitigating compression artifacts from original videos?
Hi all!
I’ve got a new project that includes editing a large amount of videos for a client. Problem is, much of their source material was over-compressed and has pixelated artifacts and any uncompressed originals are long gone.
While I have no illusions of getting these clips in crystal clear shape, I’m wondering what options exist for at least mitigating some of the issue without blurring the hell out of the entire video. The very worst of them will be tough to deal with, but there are many that just have a little blockiness around the edges of scene objects during movement, or abrupt shading in solid areas.
Are there any plugins that can help with this? Or a sneaky combo of effects aside from the aforementioned simple blur?
I use Premiere CS5.5 and honestly have resisted “upgrading” to the newest setup, but if there is a fantastic plugin for this that requires a newer version I might be able to see what the client’s willing to do on that front.
Looking forward to hearing from you, thanks in advance.
