  using CS6 with new iMac (with 5400 rpm drive)

  the quick story – in college, need a new computer, got a iMac for Christmas from parents which will be delivered this week, I have used PCs and just started using Mac.
  I basically am just getting into editing, working on others’ short films, etc. The iMac will have FCP7 (which some are still using, and have older projects on) and have CS6 (which some use and the school has switched to Premiere as well).

  The iMac is 21.5″ which means a 5400 rpm drive.
  So the immediate questions that come to mind are:
  Do I just get an external drive and will be OK?
  If so, whats the best way to use the 2 drives together?
  Is there something I need to do to the iMac drive that can make it faster?

  Or anything else I need to know?
  I need info ASAP in case I have to send this back…
