I used to transcode all my files into 1080p using red cine x before editing in Premiere but now I’m trying to make the switch over to using them in the same workflow to stop wasting the 3 days it would take me to transcode but I am having some trouble…So I make the .r3d file and when I made the grade in red cine x the changes are only made to the thumbnails in the media browser but when I preview it in the preview window it doesn’t have the grade and if I try trimming it from the preview window and adding it to my sequence it doesn’t have the grade either. The only way I can get the grade is if I drag the clip straight from the media browser to my project, what I’m I doing wrong? As well, I thought I would be able to edit all the clips then add my grade at the end but like above when I add the grade it doesn’t apply to the edited clips in the sequence it only changes the thumbnail in the media browser. I know I’m missing a crucial step any advice/tips would be appreciated. Thank You!

Are you saving the RMD from REDCINEX? PPro should pick up those changes.

Out of curiosity, if you right-click on an R3D clip in the Project Panel and choose “Source Settings” you’ll pop up PPro’s Red Metadata editor…not quite as sophisticated as REDCINE, but very functional…and you can save the RMD once you make changes in PPro and then load the clip into REDCINEX and you should see the changes you made in PPro. It would be a test as to whether PPro is seeing and altering the metadata from its end anyway…
