AVCHD – viewing AVCHD folder structure on Mac – Mountain Lion
So I have a mac – come across AVCHD material a lot. Other peoples macs can see the folder structure and find the mts or m2t files within – whereas I just see a media file saying “ACVHD”. Makes copying and importing from hard drives mid-way through jobs very difficult. If other Macs can see the structure I assume I’m missing a codec I can install so I can view the folder structure?

Right click on the AVCHD file in the finder and choose show package contents.
Can you not see the contents in Media Browser in Premiere?

Show Package Contents! Wonderful. I’m working on FCPX on this job – still very strange, why won’t my mac just show the contents straight away?

I know, it’s frustrating. If you double click on the AVCHD folder you should see the entire clips shown, minus the structure. I think Apple is trying to hide the folder structure to keep novices from screwing things up.

I published a pair of Automator workflows a couple months ago that trick OS X into displaying AVCHD folders as folders instead of packages by renaming them to all lowercase.
This is at-your-own-risk, and it’s always a good idea to have a backup, but it’s been working well for me:
