I watched a movie from a gamer. He edited it and added some effects with After Effects 6.5 which I dont know how to get.I want to ask if you can explain to me how to get the following effect:

And if it is possible could you tell me how he did that(ot just a way to do it):

He said he used Color Diferentiation to take the figure of the warrior and to place it over another movie. But how did he make it glow like this?

I would really appreciate if you explain how these effects could be done.
    Thanks.

The glow is actually Trapcode Shine.

You can DL a demo version from http://www.trapcode.com

It looks like the ray length was simply set to a low value.

If you have other questionsa after trying out the pug, there’s a Trapcode forum here on the COW. Check it out, you’ll like it!

    Good luck!

Well I have Light Vurst and the Light Rays plugin from Tinderbox but I just can get the following:
If you look closely you will see that the edges of the text arent sharp(they are blurred very nicely) and the rays are all in same direction(there is no center) and some letters are lighter that others. Can you explain this please.Thank you for the reply.

The best effects in AE are created by more than one effect or more than one layer.

In the text, I see bold and regular text.
There may also be a fractal noise layer applied as a luma matte to very the text’s opacity somewhat. Shine may be applied to an adjustment layer over the matted text.
It is soooo Shine, with the default colorization.
Maybe there’s a little blur or glow applied as well.
Shine may have been applied to an adjustment layer over the soldier in a comp, then that comp layered over the background … or shine applied to the soldier after “grow bounds” was applied to the soldier so the shine extended past the soldier’s edges.

Sorry, I don’t have Tinderbox, but using a fractal noise layer as a matte may allow you to vary the opacity before applying that plug.

That’s my take on it, anyway. Beyond that, you’ll have to experiment, I suppose.
