Hello there. I am attempting to deliver a DVCPRO HD tape to a PBS affiliate and am having issues meeting the closed caption requirements. I am attempting to write the CC data as VANC through the Export to Tape feature of Premiere CS6. My issue is that when I attempt to do this with the “Edit to Tape” window that appears, the tape deck merely plays through my previously recorded timeline (on the tape) at a very high speed. The “Edit” light appears in red on my tape deck but nothing appears to actually be written.

I’ve written to these tapes before by simply leaving the deck on “Local” and recording the Program monitor in CS6. But I don’t think the CC data is bring written that way if what I’m reading is correct. I’d hoped the Decklink SDI would have made this process easier but it seems to be just as challenging as before.

On top of it all. I don’t seem to have the ability to check my work if and when I complete it. Can I capture a recorded tape into CS6 with CC data on it, and enable closed captioning on the player when I import it into a new sequence to see if the CC data is actually being written? I don’t have a way to connect my deck to a regular TV set to check for CC success.

    Any advice?

Did you ever get an answer to this? I am struggling with the same issues.
