confused about Apple Fusion drive and editing w/ separate video drives
I’ve done some research and found that Fusion drives choke when asked to move files over a certain size (around 80 gigs for many). Also read that for this reason Fusion drives are not recommended for video editors. What I can’t find out is if this problem only exists if you use the Fusion drive for your media. Since I have to travel and use different computers during the week, my plan was to have all media for the edit on an external SSD (single or two disk raid 0) and connect via USB 3 or Thunderbolt. The Fusion drive would primarily have my applications and little else.
So, would I still be subject to the Fusion slowdown/ choking?
Thanks for any help!
