  Export metalogging from Premiere into a readable, printable, document?

  My boss has given me the task of “Metalog this footage in Premiere. Then figure out a way to export the log into a word document you can submit to me. Then write down the process for others to use. Go.”

  I’ve searched and searched and I just can’t turn anything up. Any help out there? Can this be done?

  Without going into details (I have to get up early for a call time), I would think the following is a sufficient jumping off point:

  1) Log in Premiere with file link on (the little chain icon which saves metadata to your footage along with it being present in your project file)

  2) In Bridge select the file and export the metadata to an XMP file.

  3) Open XMP file in Excel or find an XML to spreadsheet converter. Metadata is stored in a very common markup language called XML, the basis for which websites are programmed.

  4) Print

  This doesn’t solve issues with file types that don’t save metadata to the file directly like R3D but should suffice for a Quicktime/MOV based workflow.
