  Dealing with different kinds of camera footage on the same porject/timeline

  So I’m editing a piece that’s been filmed on three different cameras – two DSLRs and an EX-1. I haven’t come to the stage where I’ll be using the EX-1 footage yet, but I was just wondering if there’s anything I need to do beforehand, or if there’s a specific workflow involved. Anybody?

  I haven’t had issues with Premiere struggling with multiple file formats for a long time. I often have a mix of 5D, AVCHD, XDCAM etc.

  The golden rule I personally follow is to work out which format make up the majority of the footage and and choose the project preset that matches it.

  Hey thanks Sam. Just another query:

  I’m editing a project where the clips are 50% DSLR footage, and 50% RED Scarlet footage.

  Ideally, I want both types to look their best, but I’m not sure which preset to go with before editing. Obviously, depending on which preset you choose, when you drop a different kind of clip into the timeline, the frame resizes. Would it be best to upscale the DSLR footage on a RED preset sequence, or downscale RED footage on a DSLR preset sequence?
