How do I drop a marker on source clip while playing in timeline?

THE BACKGROUND
Full disclosure:
I have a limited knowledge of Premiere Pro. I haven’t been in inside a nonlinear editing program in years. Onward!THE PROJECT
I am currently logging documentary interview footage.
Here is the audio/video breakdown:
Single camera, stereo on-camera audio track that was written to the card at recording.
Boom mic track
Lavalier trackSynced.
THE QUESTION
All the footage is laid out in a timeline, with camera audio and boom audio synced. Camera audio track is clicked off.
The boom audio is so much cleaner than the camera audio (sometimes the camera audio is inaudible) , so as I log the footage, I find myself repeating this process:
Play from the sequence> watch a nice moment > find that same moment in the source clip > drop a marker.
I do this because if i hit M when I am watching the sequence, the marker drops on the timeline, not on the clip itself. I want the marker on the actual source clip. Is there a relatively easy way to rectify this issue? I need to be able to watch the clip with just the synced sound (from the boom/lav), then drop the marker on the source clip.
EXTRA CREDIT QUESTION
Also, I have two displays. How the heck do I get a video window on my second display. I enabled it in the playback preferences menu, but then I just get this big video window laid out across both screens. And I cant click and drag it or anything. Weird.

To quickly add Markers while you’re playing back a sequence, just hit the * (Asterisk) key on the Numbered Keypad of your keyboard. Here’s a good rundown of Markers – you would do well to read through it, since, if you plan on using Premiere Pro to any extent; they can save you lots of time:

Now that I read the details below, your question was not at all the question in the subject. Maybe someone else will answer that one…

OK – one more try – sorry about the confusion. It appears that the M key will add a clip marker while you’re playing back, at least in PPro CS6:
