  can i edit native full HD in an hdv frame and retain HD size?

  Hope the title isn’t too convoluted, but this is what I’m trying to do:

  We shot in 1920 x 1080, and want to edit in HDV (the final is going to be widescreen SD). The idea is that we’d like to be able to zoom in and change the shot without losing resolution. So I’m trying to edit the 1920 footage in a 1280 x 720 frame and keep the original frame size to give us the greatest amount of flexibility.

  I’m having trouble making that happen, because when I open that footage up in a 1280 frame, it adjusts automatically. I have a full frame shot and the scale is 100%. I’ve tried to interpret video, but no real option to change the size of the source clip.

  Any ideas?

  We’ll often shoot 1080 and edit in a 720 sequence. Then you have the option to punch in, re-frame, etc. And it works really well for SD/WEB/720p delivery.

  Right-click on the clip to check whether Scale to Frame Size is enabled. If so, deselect.
