Video Quality is terrible on youtube
Hi, I shoot with my CANON 60D and edit video with adobe premiere CS5. When I export my videos to youtube my video loses tons of color and quality. I thought maybe it’s youtube.com converting my file and that’s what youtube does…BUT I’m seeing youtube users shooting with the same camera I’m using and editing in the same program I edit in and are having flawless quality. I have done trial & error and done tons of research but I can’t get the quality that I need. I’m very very frustrated.

Thank you for the reply but I’m not getting the exact results I am looking for. I was hoping to get an opinion and advice from another person. Do you have any suggestions?

We do super high resolution MP4’s for YouTube, around 17mbps or so and they turn out as well as we would expect. Make sure you’re watching the clips in full 720 or 1080p HD. YouTube usually defaults to 360p playback when you hit the site.
Here’s a whole channel of episodes from This American Land that look pretty much as they did when they left our facility.
go to YouTube and then search for the This American Land channel.

So how would I go about getting that quality in my youtube videos?

This is it in a nutshell:
For anything SD you want the video bitrate at 5,000 kbps
For anything HD 10,000 kbps.
This is straight from the youtube white papers on recommended
encoding settings. -
Thank you. I will try those settings. Should the target bitrate be 10 or the maximum bitrate 10? Below is a photo showing settings I’m currently using. Is there anything else you suggest I change? Once again thank you for your response
