Hi I recorded some clips to a Convergent Design recorder and when bringing them into PP the L and R channels are actually out of sync by almost 25 frames! (it is actually the same mic on both tracks)

These clips are MPEG2 (Sony codec) MXF @ 100 Mb/s – bizarrely this does not happen on every clip.

I linked and imported the same clips to Avid MC and they came in fine. PP also misinterpreted the clips as Stereo when they are in fact dual mono.

It is too late to fix now but does anybody have an explanation so I can avoid it in future?

    Thanks

Need more info about your process…something’s odd here.

For dual mono, just right click on the files and modify-audio change stereo to dual mono…it’s easy.

You can also force Premiere Pro to interpret all stereo audio as dual mono in the preferences (what I do). Most dual channel audio in video files is interpreted as stereo by Premiere Pro unless you tell it otherwise.

The sync issue seems like a new on on me. Are the stems the same length on the timeline?
