  • How to sync playback between source and timeline?

Ok, I know this must be human error…but it’s driving me nuts.

In FCP, when you have a clip in the timeline…and you double click that clip, it loads it in the viewer. Then when you scrub through the viewer, it updates the timeline simultaneously. But, when I try the same thing in Premiere (double click a clip in the timeline…loading it into the source monitor), it does not dynamically sync your cursor with the two (source and timeline). How can i get these two to sync when previewing?? I’ve tried fooling around with “gang source to program”…..but that doesn’t seem to work, just offsets things….i must not be seeing something obvious.

    Thanks for any insight.

Gang Source to Program works for me. Have you updated to Premiere Pro CS6 (6.0.3) on Windows or Premiere Pro CS6 (6.0.2) on Mac OS?

Exactly how do you do this in premiere CC i.e., gang or synchronize source and program monitors?

I don’t see any way to do this.

Was this question ever answered? Can the source and program monitor be ganged?

You can gang the two monitors by going into the Program or Source wing menu and selecting ‘Gang Source to Program’.

    See attached image for reference.

I’m on Premiere CC 2014 and do not see Gang options available in the pulldown menu. Did I miss something? Did the feature go somewhere else? Go away? Not available in CC?

    Hi Eddie,

Try clicking on the wrench button (settings menu) inside the Program or Source monitor.

Thanks Peter. Spot on. Of course, no sooner did I post than I found the very same.
