Hey guys, I feel like my computer could be better.
Perhaps an upgrade of CPU or RAM would help out? If so which model would best suit?
I use Premiere Pro and After Effects CS6 .
Although fast I think the computer could be much faster when rendering and working with filters like Magic Bullet Looks.
The programs work off of the SSD, as does Windows7, and I let them use 12 out of 16GB of RAM.
My GPU sadly doesn’t utilize the Mercury Playback Engine as of yet.

I look forward to seeing what you think, Cheers!!

    My Windows7 build:
    i7 2600K @4.5GHz
    16GB RAM @1600MHz
    AMD HD6970
    Samsung SSD 840 -120GB
    x2 Caviar Black HDD -2TB

I would definitely add more ram to your system. If you’re using AE it will definitely take advantage of 32GB. If you have the available slots, this is usually an inexpensive upgrade.

Also, you could get an Nvidia graphics card, at least a 670GTX although there are some more powerful options out there. Of course, you might want to wait and see if Adobe “Next” supports your current card.

Something else to consider is getting another 840 drive and making a raid 0 boot drive. Just did that on my own system and it makes for an extra snappy OS.

I agree with Sean. RAM and a CUDA enabled GPU will really help in terms of speed, rendering, and exporting. The more you can afford the better. Adobe programs love RAM. An Nvidia card would release the power of the Adobe code in terms of playback and rendering/exporting. If you’re going to upgrade to CS Next it might be worth waiting to see if they support your current card better in that release. If you plan on staying on CS6 then definitely RAM and GPU.
