  Hallo everyone, my question is

  I’m using premier cs4 with quadro fx 1800, and my workflow is excellent , but I want to upgrade to cs6, and my question is, will the mercury engine can work with my card so I will have the same workflow that I have now with cs4? I know that my card is not on the list that adobe published for cards that will work with cs4. But I don’t want to invest more money, since I’m already spending for the software, so is there any solution ?

  I would be more concerned about the PC itself more than the graphics card – how old is it? And do you have Windows 7 64 bit OS for CS6? If the PC is 5 years old and you want to edit the latest AVCHD and DSLR-type formats, you may be very disappointed with the performance.

  I checked on the FX 1800 card and it has 768mb of memory, while 896mb is required for Mercury GPU Playback, so it’s not going to work in GPU mode.

  Thank u for the response , my pc is 3 years , it got i7 CPU , nehlam 2.6ghhz, motherboard asus pt6 deluxe v2, 12gb ram ddr3.working with windows 7 64bit.
  So do u think with this hardware I only need to upgrade my
  video card and I will have nice workflow ?
  And if so wich card would u recommend to buy but it’s not to pricy?

  Adobe has a very short list of approved cards, but *many* Nvidia cards will work just fine. Main thing to look for is minimum 1GB of DDR5 memory in the card. There is a “cuda_supported_cards.txt” file in the Adobe folder that requires modification if using an “unsupported” card. Either add the name of the card to the list, OR you can delete the list and then Adobe just looks at the specs of the card and if it meets minimum needs it will then be used for GPU acceleration.

  Google “studio 1 hack” for detailed info and there is a large list of cards with recommendations as to whether they will work or not.

  Note that the video cards are not Nvidia branded – many manufacturers make the cards using the Nvidia tech inside, such as PNY, which is a good brand.
