Audio is mute during playback in the sequence of premier cs6
Hi all!
so yes…I am a bit confused…I found the same problem online, followed instructions, but nothing is changing to good.So here I am:
my video is fine, audio plays ok in the source window, but when I drop it into the timeline: gone! (I created the sequence by dropping the video into the new item bin.. so it has the same settings as my footage).
When i check the audio levels in audio meters, the green bar says -58…but this same bar is around -20 or so when i play it from teh source, and the audio is pfect.
I tried audio hardware in preferences, changing the presets, and nothing happened… 🙁
So what is it?? can someone be my savior?

Check each of the following parameters:
– Volume setting in the Effect Controls window for each clip
– Audio Gain… under Clip > Audio Options (or right click the clip)
– Track audio level in the Audio Mixer window
– Master audio level in the Audio Mixer window -
Sorry, one more (and most likely): Check whether the speaker icon is “on” on the left side of the audio track. You might have inadvertently turned it off.

I adjusted the volumes now, and most of them worked, there is one that don’t but also doesn’t work on the source window..so it might be corrupted, but rest are fine!
last question: what will be “standard” for volume in dB? you said to adjuSt audio gain…what is thE normal volume I just use for gain? and for master in audio mixer window?

The input levels are adjusted up or down depending on the source audio and the how the finished product will be viewed. For broadcast video the mixed output level should be -20dB for a reference tone, -12dB for dialogue, and -9dB max. For web delivery these levels would typically be increased by a few dB.
