Importing XDCAM fails
Posted by Peter Berthet on January 31, 2013 at 10:02 pmSo essentially im importing XDCAM either through media browser or by dragging the clips into prem and i get the importer generic error message.
Its happening on multiple CS6 windows systems and for the life of me i cant figure out why.

January 31, 2013 at 10:29 pmMedia Browser only. XDCAM should be a series of MXF files; was the card’s file/folder structure preserved during copying? If not then this link may help https://dylanreeve.com/videotv/2011/virtual-xdcam.html

January 31, 2013 at 10:31 pmOr is this a variation of XDCAM that provides you with an MP4 file? Those usually behave well outside of the folder structure.

January 31, 2013 at 10:32 pmHi Angelo,
Yes the folder structure was preserved.
Ive actually tried importing direct from the xdcam deck, and separately after copying the entire disc contents to our fibre drives. Both methods gave the importer error.

February 2, 2013 at 12:43 amJust for the heck of it, have you tried installing
the log and transfer xdcam software from sony?Maybe it will do something to make premiere happy to do its job.

February 4, 2013 at 4:04 amNo its a disc installation, and i’ve tried XDCAM transfer as well.
It can read the media just fine.Of course the point is to be able to import it to premiere natively and avoid having to use XDCAM transfer.
