We have just switched to P-6 and we’re cutting a feature. My editor keeps saving as a new job every day and now, we can’t find our auto-save files. In FCp, we could send these to a place that we chose. I can’t seem to find that option in Premier.

Autosaved proyects folder is supposed to be allocated in same folder than the manually saved proyect.

No option in Premiere to put the auto save where ever you want it to be.
Auto save is located in the same folder as your project file like said by Gabriel.

OK, I have a question. What if your auto-save is not in the project file? I started a new project. Set the auto-save to save every 7 minutes and nada. The project folder only shows the Adobe Premiere Pro Preview Files and no auto save folder is being created. Any thoughts

To designate where you Auto-Save location is you must do so when creating the project. On the project set up screen click on the Scratch-Disk tab and you can designate the location from there…I’m still trying to figure out if you can change the location after the project has been created.

    Jared,

I am trying to designate where to put my auto save folder, and I’m on the Scratch-disc tab of the project setup screen. All I see is an option for Captured video and captured audio, video previews and audio previews.
Nothing about where to put the auto save folder.

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks

Autosave folder isn´t created until you first manually save the proyect and the configured time for autosave have passed.

No, I don’t think you are missing anything.

Just went back to check and it looks that currently the auto-save is placed in the same location as your project file is – so unfortunately in CS6 you are restricted to the auto save being placed in the same location as your project…it “might possibly” be an update included in Premiere Pro CC that could give you an auto-save location option, which is supposed to come out in June according to their website (or at least some apps have new versions in June)

This thread is over a year old now and I’m wondering if you guys ever got it sorted out? I just had my MacBook pro have a hard crash — totally locked up and had to do a hard restart.

I had been experimenting with some footage in my feature length documentary and as I was immersed in the creation process, realized I had not saved in over an hour. All those changes in the project file were lost. I went to look for the auto-saved version and at first could not find it. I eventually found it and others saved in my mac/users/documents/adobe/premiere pro/8.0/adobe premiere pro auto-save folder!!!

THAT IS NOT my “project folder.” But there they are and it seemed to open fine and I am grateful and happy. But the info about PP putting auto-save files in the project directory is not correct. At least, for me.
I found the file using search in finder.
