Looking for ideas on Removing bad light in a video
Hello, Using Adobe Prem Elements and hoping someone can help. Made the mistake of filming a video next to a window and some weird light spots showed up on the speakers jacket that were not visible to the naked eye during filming. The problem is in the first clip, the second clip is fine. Take a look at the video at the link below and let me know if you have any ideas for fixing this in editing. I hope there is a way to do it. Thanks.

Hi Lindsay,
The spots look like a light refraction in the lens itself – I don’t think the spots were on his jacket at all – which is why you didn’t notice them during the shoot.
Sorry to say I don’t know of an easy fix. Might require “rotoscoping”, which is basically hand-painting frame-by-frame to hide them, which can be done in the newer Photoshop programs. I actually did this for outdoor wedding vows – a fly was crawling around on the groom’s shoulder and I removed it frame by frame. Just an exercise for me, not something I would normally do!
Another fix might be available through color correction to minimize spots, using a mask to localize the effect to his jacket so as not to effect the entire image. I haven’t used Elements, so not sure what level of effects and masking are available there.
It’s always a good idea to have a video monitor on site for these kinds of shoots, ideally providing a live preview direct from the camera so you can see these kinds of issues that are not so apparent on the small camera LCD. You can also review the scene right after shooting it, in case it needs to be re-shot. Cheap insurance to avoid headaches in post.
