why no ram preview in PP cs 6.03?
As above. I’m relatively new to PP, so pardon me if I forgot some settings and stuff.
I searched over the net, and it seems that Ram preview is only available in AE, is that true?
i asked this because i’m having some odd problems here :
video source : canon 550d video (h264 720p @24fps)
added effect : neat video reduce noiseonce i added and applied the effect, the bar becomes red and i am unable to preview my clips in real-time. it stutters like crazy and i have to Render entire work area before I can preview it normally (where rendering took around 40minutes for a 2min clip?!)
note that it continues to stutter even though i’ve previewed the whole clip thrice.
the CPU usage rammed up for awhile, but went back to idle pretty soon. bar continues to stay red.
the preview resolution is set @ 1/4.
my com specs are more than enough to support the video source :
i5 2500k @ 4.6ghz, 1.40v (overclocked)
16gb RAM
GTX560 TI 1Gb (hacked list to support MPE)what can i do to make it preview in real-time? please help. thanks!

Do you have one of the newer versions of neat video? Open the effect, go to preferences and you can benchmark it. It should take advantage of nVidia CUDA processing, otherwise it’s a very heavy effect… but not nearly enough as to have a 20:1 encoding ratio.
How is the rendering/playback speed for MPE in software mode?

yes i am using neat video 3.2 (just one version earlier..)
benchmarked @ 20.8fps.MPE in software mode is dog slow! 🙁

update : even after rendering entire work area (and bar turns green), clips still stutter (notice the purple lines at 2nd clip onwards)
what did i do wrongly?
on a side note : if the noise profiles for most of the clips i need are the same, how do i apply them to all those clips effortlessly without doing profiling again? drag-and-dropping doesn’t seem to work – i need to do reprofiling.

Purple line means an effect has been added (when a clip is selected in the timeline the purple line goes green)
If after rendering still no good playback you should check your machine.
Overclocking is not always a good thing, not enough hard disks etc.For applying the same effect:
Add effect to clip and adjust
Go to timeline and select that clip and copy
Select all other clips, right click and Paste Attributes.———————————————–

sorry, but even with default settings (no OC) and 1TB of free disk space, i am encountering this same issue. what should i do then?

Hi Dylan,
Noise reduction plugins take forever to render, this is normal. What I do is use After Effects and apply noise reduction (Red Giant Denoiser II in my case) to the raw clip and export to a new file, then Import that new, clean clip into Premiere and then there is no lag during editing and I can add other effects and such in realtime again. That way the noise reduction is not dogging the system while I am editing.

but isn’t your Red giant denoiser a plugin as well? what’s the difference? i remember running neat video last time before (on a less-able rig), but i don’t recall it being THIS slow.
