  • Horizontal lines on video, cant figure it out.

Hey all, I’ve got a weird problem for a long time, but i think it’s time to figure it out.

when editing/watching videos, in premiere pro, after effects or even watching some videos in media player – I’ve got some lines pooping in fast transitions/fast camera moves.

little hard to explain so this is the effect i’m getting (enlarge the picture to understand what i’m talking about):

if it’s not clear enough, it’s one clear line (maybe more sometimes, its really fast so i can’t tell exactly), like horizontal displacement map, or something like that…

    • Those lines not visible most of time, only in fast camera moves or transitions.
    • they pooping in the middle part of the video.
    • if i’m scrolling back or trying to “catch” them when moving on the timeline – i can’t.
    • they pooping only on real time previews.

I’m using Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti with pretty strong computer.
hope its enough clear for you to help me, much appreciated.

It does sound like a GPU issue. First step is to make sure your drivers are up to date. If they are up to date then try rolling them back a version or two and see if you’re still having the issue.

I don’t think the GeForce GTX 660 is an official CUDA card, so if you’ve altered the CUDA list to allow it to work, then try disabling it as well. It may just be a performance issue related to that.

I understand you very well as exactly same annoying thing is happening to me since CS5, got used to live with this weird thing but you´re right, it´s time to figure it out. It didn´t happened in CS3 (no graphics driver update done from cs3 to cs5), so i´m not really sure if this is a graphics card driver issue, or a Mercury Playback Engine issue, as CS3 didn´t have this feature. Tried disabling GPU acceleration as Angelo said, but it´s still the same.
I usually work with p2 footage, but this happens with all the video formats i have tried.

Updating nvidia drivers to the last ones didn´t solve the problem neither(306.97 WHQL).

If you find out a solution please let me know, i´ll appreciate.

    Regards

I know it’s a bit late, but I would like to tell everyone that the solution is: “Turn on Windows Aero”!
    So simple.
The weird thing is that we disabled aero for better performance at first place, but seems it helps on HD rendering.
