Yet another conforming issue
Hey all, another guy who’s been reaping all the good advice/tutorials from this site and now have a question thats been driving me insane. New to Premiere but have been loving it since we work with AVCHD mostly now…but in a few projects I’ll have a few files that will reconform all the time…when I open the project and sometimes if I just leave PP (like just go to another program) and come back to it. I think it will even do it after the hard drive goes to sleep and it fires back up. It’s quite annoying and a huge time waster as it often involves a long interview clip that is being conformed. I’m running a last year iMac, CS6 and a usb hard drive (I know, not the best, but it’s what I got)…I’ve been reading everything I could find for last few days but hope someone has been there done that. I set the media cache folder to the external to save space and that seemed to be about when this started. I’d like to reimport files and see if it fixes it but the shows are mostly cut and I cant go through the effort of redoing it all. I’ve tried clearing the cache and such…are the xmp’s to the files corrupt? Maybe I just have to live with it for these projects but I’d sure like to avoid it in the future. Go to Menu > Edit > Preferences > Media, and make sure “Write XMP ID to files on Import” is checked.
Try it by going to a clip in your library/bin and replacing footage with the same clip. See if it only conforms once.

Thank you. It is checked and it seems when I bring new files in they seem alright. Maybe the files that reconform got corrupted on their initial conform and are in an endless loop? Hopefully next project is okay because this one is already too far along.
