Installing Quadro4000 and added RAM into a mac pro
I have a Mac Pro 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 12 GB (2 x 6) 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC RAM which I am trying to upgrade. I installed 2 4 GB 240P DIMM DDR3 PC3-8500 RAM cards and a VCQ4000MAC-PB Quadro 4000 2GB GDDR5 Card into my Mac Pro following the directions I found in an online manual for my model of Mac Pro (early 2009). I have two monitors. I plugged one of the monitors into the Quadro 4000 card and left the other one plugged into my ATI Radeon 4870.
When I turned on my computer, the system informed me that there was a problem and recommended I push any key and allow the system to try to load again. No luck. I then plugged the monitor currently plugged into the Quadro 4000 card back into the ATI card thinking that might be problem. No luck. Now I am wondering if maybe the RAM might be the problem (conflict between the 2 GB RAM cards already in the system and the new 4 GB ones.
I’m over my head and need help. Anyone out there have some guidance for a not too techie kind of guys?
Thanks so much.
