  I need a special render for TV … ?

  Hi guys! I’ve shot a short using a Canon Rebel T3i.Everything was done on Premire CS5. All scenes are shot in 1080p at 24fps. My video just has been rejected from a local TV station saying my video do not meet their broadcasting standard.

  Here’s what they asked:

  Beta, HDCAM-SR or data DVD______

  -Produced on Beta SP (SD) or HDCAM-SR in 1080i60 Dropframe (HD)

  OR

  -data DVD (SD): .MXF or .MOV (IMX50) /- 4 audio channels – NTSC (720×486) -pixels CCIR601 (40:27) – 29.97 fps – Interlaced – With Timecode track.

  -data DVD (HD): .MXF or .MOV (Compression:XDCAM HD422 1080i60 CBR DropFrame 50Mb/s Long GOP IBBPBBPBBPBBPBB closed 4:2:2) /- 8 audio channels mono 24bits – NTSC (1920×1080) -pixels HDTV 1080i (16:9) – 59.94 fps – With Timecode track.

  Here’s the 8 audio channels:

  1- Front left
  2- Front right
  3- Center
  4- Bass (LFe)
  5- Back left
  6- Back right
  7- Description video left
  8- Description video right

  Can you guys help me a bit with that, I’m kind of confused with this standard.

  Well, what did you give them? Did you output to tape? Beta, HDCAM-SR? If not, then you didn’t meet the first spec.

  Did you export an MXF or MOV file in the IMX50 format, 720×486 with 4 channels of audio? If not, you didn’t meet their Standard Def data spec.

  Did you export in XDCAM 422 as MXF or MOV at 50Mbits/sec with 8 channels of audio in the required audio configuration at 1920×1080? If not, you didn’t meet their high definition data spec.

  What did you give them?

  If you are confused by the spec, then you need to hire an online editor that knows how to do this. And will also make sure that the video levels fall within typical broadcast standard. Although audio…that might require an audio mixer, as broadcast spec for audio is pretty strict too.

  Broadcast TV deliverables are pretty darn technical…and take a bit of knowhow and experience. If you lack that, you need to hire someone who knows how to deliver it.

  Thanks Shane. I sent them a MPEG4 H.264 export from Premiere CS5.

  How can I export to the format they need through Premiere CS5?

  I don’t see any of these export settings in CS5..?

  I see the XDCAM export option in CS5 with it looks like it’s missing couple things in the option. I’m not asked about DropFrame or not, 8 channels of 5.1 audio is not mentioned either. Plus they are asking for 59.94 fps while my video has been shot in 24fps.. ??

  I believe for that spec you need EPISODE by Telestream. I can honestly say I haven’t output to those specs. I’ve delivered ProRes and broadcast MPEG.

  Yes, your output will have to be converted from 23.98 progressive to 29.97 interlaced (59.94i is tech talk for 29.97 interlaced). I assume drop frame because of timing issues….you can only get accurate timing with drop frame code.

  Their spec mentions that when they list what goes on what track. If you can’t do that, you need to hire someone who can.

  Now, I’m very new to Adobe, so I don’t know how to do the video conversion yet…I’d have to play around. I hope someone here does. But it isn’t a simple one step process.

  I’d copy the sequence and put it in one thats 29.97 then try
  exporting to the XDCAM file spec they gave.

  I’ve never known any station that accepts 24 frame spots for airing.
