    Hello fellow post producers.

I´ve encountered a bit of a problem when trying to make some slow motion video.
The director of photography shot some test shots on a SONY F3 to make some (duh) tests.
We´re gonna work 1080p @25 all the way, from shooting to finish.
In some shots we need slow motion, so we figured we just shot those in 50p (and 720 instead of 1080) and then reinterpret the footage at 25fps so all works good… right? Well… actually not!
When I import the file (it says right there 50fps) then I put it in my 25fps timeline, it goes actually FASTER than the other shots, around 200%. If I reinterpret the footage as planned so Premiere plays it at 25 instead of 50 (thus creating the illusion of slow motion) then it plays back at regular speed.

It is as if it was shot at 25 and for some reason “made believe” to be at 50. And yes, I did try to reinterpret it at 12fps to see what happens and no, it looks horrible, the information just isnt´there.

This is driving me crazy since it goes against all common sense and experience.

    I´m using Premiere Pro CS5.5 on a 2011 iMac.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!
