Posted by Duncan Dettmer on May 9, 2012 at 11:53 amHi,
Which graphics card would you recommend for a mac pro? Quadro 4000? Is there anything else?As there are so PC cards, whats a good one for under £200?
Both systems will be running CS6.

May 9, 2012 at 1:52 pmQuadro 4000 helps out Premiere with CUDA acceleration of certain functions.
It also helps when creating extruded text in the ray trace environment in After Effects.
Read up so you know what to expect from it.

May 10, 2012 at 4:12 pmFor the mac there is still the option if you can get ahold of a GTX 285 mac edition, though it’s a bit older now it’s the only other supported cuda card on OSX for premiere. On PC look for a gtx 570, it is fully tested and supported and you should be able to find one around your budget, maybe a little more. Cheaper cards like a 560ti could work but they are not officially supported and you have to alter a file or 2 to get them working properly.

September 13, 2012 at 7:10 pmI inherited a Mac Pro 12-Core with a ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB graphics card. Does anyone know if the Quadro 4000 will significantly outperform this? With CS6 I primarily use Premiere Pro and After Effects. Thanks!
