Hi, my problem is that premirere pro cs3 is changing the pixel aspect ratio of mp4 files when i import them, from 1.0 (the original pixel aspect ratio) to 0.75.
when imported into premiere pro cs5 on another computer they are fine; viewed in quicktime player they are fine; and in imovie they are fine.

premiere pro cs3 also has trouble playing the squashed mp4s at proper speeds, whereas they play back fine in imovie or quicktime. is this to do with the change in pixel aspect ratio?

    Thankyou very much in advance.

I never had this problem using PP CS3, is your version up-to-date? Anyway you can interprete footage right clicking the file in the proyect pannel and changing pixel aspect ratio and framerate.

    Regards

    Hi, thanks.
that does it. And the problem with slow playback seems to have been down to the files being mp.4. i read somewhere that premiere (at least before cs5) doesn’t like them. I’ve converted them to lower res .movs and they work fine.
    thanks again
