25fps sequence in Premiere, 29.97 in FCP?
I have a 29.97fps sequence in a Final Cut Pro project. I would like to use certain sections of this sequence in Adobe Premiere CS5.5 in a 25fps sequence. I have exported the FCP project using XML, imported the sequence and accompanying files into Premiere.
However, when I insert the FCP exported sequence or clips onto the Premiere timeline, the image is about 25% of the screen.
I have tried creating a 25fps seq in FCP, copying and pasting the 29.97 sequence into the new FCP 25fps seq, then exporting, but I’m having similar problems.
I tried creating a 29.97fps sequence in Premiere, then adding my other 25 fps clips to this sequence. The problem then is that these clips are oversized.
How do I get around this? I have new footage in 25fps which I have been working with in Premiere. I would like to continue with the sequence as 25fps. How can I use my FCP Project clips without resizing? Unfortunately I no longer have the original source files. I do, however, have the FCP capture scratch files intact.
I hope someone can help as I’m approaching a deadline…I thought Premiere would handle all this easily, but as always, there are hiccups.

Sorry, perharps i´m not understanding you very well, but i think your problem has nothing to do with framerate, but with resolutions. If the final cut image is about 25% of the premiere screen is because your premiere proyect size doesn´t fit the final cut´s sequence size/resolution. Check if you´re mixing different resolution clips in the same premiere seq.
Add the final cut clips to the premiere timeline by dragging them directly to the “New element” icon in lower side of Proyect Pannel to create a new sequence that fits exactly the size, framerate and format of these clips.
If you don´t want to add them to a new sequence but to a previously 25 fps created sequence with a different resolution & framerate clips in it, you´ll have to resize always and Interpret footage.

Thanks for the reply Gabriel. I think you may be on to something! I, on the other hand, am on a steep learning curve.
I should have clarified that all my FCP footage is 1920×1080 29.97. That is why the FCP sequence is 29.97.
The Premiere sequence is 25fps, created using the ‘New Sequence From Clip’ function in the File menu.
I prefer to work in Premiere at the minute, and all my footage in Premiere is 25fps.
What do I need to do mix the two clips in the one sequence? How should I export the FCP XML? Do I resize (Interpret Footage) once I bring it into Premiere? Or would it be more practical to export my FCP footage as QuickTime movies, then import this into the Premiere sequence?
Any help is appreciated!

It depends in the desired resolution of the final video.
Not good idea mixing different resolution and framerated clips into the same seq. You´ll have to reduce higher res. clips to the standard res. of your premiere seq. to avoid quality loss, and interpret footage to match framerate. Instead, you can choose a 1920×1080 seq. and enlarge smaller clips using a plugin like MB Instant HD.Regards
