Premiere Pro CS 5.5 Mac. 1920×1080 23.976 ProResLT source footage and a 23.976 timeline. Decklink HD Extreme 3D card.

When I play the source video it goes out through the card to an external monitor. When I play the edited sequence it won’t display externally. I tried the same thing with a 29.97 sequence and it works fine. I have run 23.98 footage/timelines out through the same set-up with either FCP 7 or Avid MC6 and it works fine.

I presume I have a Premiere Pro setting wrong somewhere. Thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.

Oliver , when I bump into gremlins like this I…

    1. Go to Preferences / Media and clean cache
    2. Delete preview files
    3. Delete Preferences by holding down Command-Option-Shift

I use a Kona 3 so Im not that familiar with BM issues. Sorry.

Thanks. I’ll check this when I get back to the client site. My other thought was the render codec setting. Could this be codec-dependant? For example, using a BMD uncompressed codec versus something like AVC-Intra?

As I understand it, when using third party hardware for external display, you must use the manufacturers sequence (I must use AJA sequences not Adobe) to be able to see it on my engineering monitor.

In sequence setting you have Editing Mode settings (must be AJA) and Preview Mode setting (Format and Codec).(PIX 1)

I altered the Preview codecs (Pix 2)

and still got Kona 3 output on my monitor. Again, not sure about BM.

Yes. Makes sense. Sounds like that’s the issue. I’ll check in a couple of days. Thanks.

    Oliver,

I noticed issues with 24P on Decklink studio cards when sending out to our client monitor via HDMI. The SDI out to the preview monitor work fine though.

I’ve had a chance to check this. It boiled down to starting the project with the right BMD Decklink settings in the PPro presets window. Once I did that it was fine. The earlier test had been with an existing project that evidently had some other preset selected. Thanks.
