    Hi,

I’m currently cutting shots from VOB files (and also M4V) to make a demo reel and the arrow key to go from one frame to the next is extremely slow, I have to wait like 3 seconds for each time I try to move from one to the next. Scrolling at that slow pace rate is very annoying to say the least.

Could this be due to the file being a VOB or M4V, or something else? It’s such a basic thing that I’d be surprised it’s a memory issue…

(See signature for pc specs) The thing is supposed to edit smoothly HD files of much higher weight… Working with Premiere Pro CS5.

    Thanks!

    Hi Pat,

Do you have a separate drive (internal or external) for video editing? The C: drive should not be used for media. Did you copy the .VOB file to the hard drive or are you trying to edit right from the DVD?

I don’t think your Nvidia card was supported for Mercury Playback GPU acceleration until CS5.5, maybe you can do “the hack” to use it in CS5 to enhance performance?

Hi Jeff! None of my files were on my C drive nor did they were coming directly from the DVDs. I had completely forgotten about the hack for the mercury engine, and thanks to you, it has solved the problem, now every is running slick! Fantastic!
