  • How do I get Gridiron X-factor to use both of my processors?

Posted by Hulgan on April 27, 2006 at 5:54 pm

I’m having trouble setting up X-factor to actually USE both of my processors. It sees and recognizes that there are two but for some reason it will only access one and actually renders a bit slower than when I use AE alone.

Also- is it really AE PRO 7.0 compliant? It’s included with the 7.0 install but almost everything about it refers to AE 6.5 (test project, install file path, etc.).

    Any help would be appreciated.

From what I have read (because I have not used it) Gridiron X factor is for linking up multiple computers to get more power.
Whereas gridiron nucleo is used to get the most power out of ONE computer with multi-processors or multi-cores.

And from their web site: https://www.gridironxfactor.com/products/xfae_overview.asp
It does not look like gridiron x-factor is compatible with AE 7.

Yes, Nucleo is what you want. When it works, it works well, speeding render times on average of 30-40%. But there are a number of plugins, especially those with temporal dependencies, that is, they reference someting in the frames before or after, that will completely nullify any benefits and can even slow down your render.
Still, in these instances its a simple matter to turn off Nucleo.
