Are you using the English version? Or, say, the French version?

IRE units are used for NTSC video, whereas volts are used for PAL. I believe that the French and German versions default to showing volts for PAL. (I’m typing this on my phone right now, so I can’t confirm this for certain.)

The scopes correspond with the sequence (in the English version at least)
If its pal (25 frames) the scope is automatic set to volts.
This is for CS5.5. I cannot confirm this for CS4.

    Thanks for the clarification, Ann.

I just checked in Premiere Pro CS4, and switching from an NTSC sequence to a PAL sequence does change the Waveform Monitor units from IRE to volts.

Yes, the sequence is in PAL. I didnt know that volts are used for PAL.
I know that with IRE units I shouldnt cross 100 IRE line and I should go below 0 IRE line. What about volts? I dont know how to read it. Does anybody know?

Tektronix have produced some very good “learning” materials; they might help. Not sure if the SD literature is still available.

    Stay between 0.3 and 1.0.
