Okay do not know if this is the right forum but I need some help.

We have new HP Z800 workstations and are running CS 5.5 on 5 different stations.

    We are experiencing various issues;
    – Freezing for approximately 15 to 60 seconds every couple of minutes (This seems to get worse as the day gets longer)
    – Slow response or “sluggish” (This also gets worse as the day goes on)

We have turned off indexing and paging file is set at 800 meg on the C drive. The D drive’s paging file has been turned off.

We have found some posts about having to much RAM but are unsure.

I have looked for various “Set-Up” tips for Windows 7 but have not found any.

I feel it is something we need to turn off in Windows 7 but can not find anything definite.

We are editing mostly SD footage, but have started a few HD projects and plan to move to completely HD in the next 6 months.

We do mostly corporate so we deal with a fair amount of footage.

    System specs:
    HP Z800
Intel Xeon CPU X5690 3.47 GHz Dual Processors
    48 GB RAM
    64 Bit Operating System
    Windows 7 Service Pack 1
    NVidia Quadro 6000
    150 GB SSD C Drive
5.5 TB Internal Raid 5 Drive

Ask any questions and I will answer to the best of my ability.

    Thanks in advance

I’m not an expert in this area but I wonder two things: In Premiere, what are the scratch disks set to and is your RAID controller driver and firmware up to date?

It’s the only thing, in my mind, that’s unique in comparison to other systems that just have a ton of RAM in them (I’ve seen 24 gig systems handle just fine and no reason to believe that Windows 7 can’t manage double effectively).

The Rig is the ultimate for the job and not the problem. Some of the clips are corrupt. Try and isolate the problem area by rendering small parts.

System has all the latest drivers and updates.

Clips are not corrupt. It happens with all the videos loaded. We are mostly SD for now but I have worked with Mini DV loaded clips, QTs loaded from a HD video camera, QTs and AVIs loaded from stock footage discs. Everything is rendered.

Thanks for the replies, still hoping.
