I noticed that when I burn my project to a DVD there is loss of quality that bugs the crap out of me. It looks so nice as an avi on Windows Media Player but then Encore basterdizes it somehow. I am wondering if I am missing something.. Obviously Encore simplifies the file somewhat to fit it on the disc. I know DVDs can hold only like 4.47 gigs and my original is about that big so I know the program shrinks it otherwise there would be no way to fit a 2 hour movie on one. Is there a setting on Encore or a “mastering” program to run it through? Thanks everyone for your help. Becca

This would be best posted in the DVD Authoring COW Forum.

Check your transcode settings and footage interpretation in Encore. Most likely you are simply using wrong settings there, otherwise Encore does a just fine job of producing good DVD. Also do not forget that MPEG-II will always loose some quality, no matter how good your transcoding engine.
