  Captured files are importing, but not rendered

  I have just captured a Mini DV tape using Premiere CS4. After capturing, when I place a clip on the time line, the video has a red line above the time line as though it’s not rendered. Yet any previous footage drops onto the time line with no red line. What the heck? All specs as far as I can tell are the same. Same camera, same everything.

  Any ideas?

  Check your sequence settings and see if they match your footage.

  But prior captured footage works in the same project. It’s not a new project with different settings. The newer footage was even shot the same as the other. Does drop frame vs. non drop frame make a difference?

  If there is any form of property mismatch between the media and the sequence then it will show up as Red in the timeline. Probably will still playback fine, but that’s a trigger that there is some kind of mismatch in the specs.

  If there are dropped frames i would capture again.

  There’s no dropped frames reported. I’ve even tried capture with the audio as well as video. I don’t really need the audio track, since no audio was recorded. It still comes up not rendered. I’m at an absolute loss here. I’m still getting used to CS4 after moving from Pro 2.0 and a Matrox RTx100 card.

  Could be the fields are interpreted differently to the sequence used.

  Try swapping that. 🙂

  Thanks all! To get around the problem, I ran the clips through AE and rendered them out as Microsoft DV .avi files. I dropped those in, no render needed. I don’t get it. lol

  Where the avi’s captured by Matrox? If so that will explain the red line. Matrox captures with upper field. As DV is lower field.

  No, I’ve been using CS4 for a few months now, with no problems. I really cannot find where my footage and my sequence/project settings are mismatched at all. I’ve triple checked everything.

  The audio on the tape wasn’t 32k or something weird like that?

  What about dropping clip onto the auto sequence match icon?
